The Compostable Microwave Steam Bags from Toastabags provide a quick and easy way to cook meat, fish and vegetables, from fresh or frozen, whilst retaining nutrients and flavour. Made from cellulose, not plastic, they are 100% compostable and zero waste.
If you’ve never tried Microwave Steam Bags before, they’re really simple to use:
- Cut food into similar sized pieces to ensure even cooking. No need to add water. Add butter and seasoning if required.
- Place food into the bag. Remove the peel strip on the flap, fold over and seal, making sure the fold is at least 3cm.
- Cook in the microwave for the length of time as indicated on the bag’s packaging. When cooking has finished, allow the bag to stand for approximately 30 seconds to allow steam to be released.
- Remove the bag from the microwave. Water may be present so keep the bag upright and pour off before serving.
- Dispose of the bag in your compost bin.
Please note, as the Steam Bags are made from a bio-based compostable material, they will degrade naturally over time. The bags should be used within one year of purchase.
