Environmental Details
We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
The Sänger natural rubber hot water bottle replaces hot water bottles that are made from plastic or that have synthetic covers.
The hot water bottle is made from natural latex rubber and the cover is made from natural cotton. Latex is a natural material that is harvested from the rubber tree. Since the trees are not cut down when harvesting the latex, it is both highly sustainable and carbon-negative.
A lot of hot water bottles are made from synthetic rubber and plastics, which have a negative impact on the environment when they are made and also when they are disposed of. Hot water bottle covers are also generally made using synthetic fibres, which can release microplastics when they are washed. The natural rubber hot water bottle on the other hand is made from natural and sustainable materials, which can be returned to nature when the product reaches the end of its life.
The hot water bottle is packaged with a recyclable card tag.
As the hot water bottle is made from natural latex, it can be composted at the end of its life. Latex can take a long time to break down though, so cut it into small pieces before putting it on your compost pile. The latex can take anywhere from six moths to a few years to fully break down, however, this can be sped up by using something like a HOTBIN. The cotton cover is also fully compostable, and can also be recycled at a textile recycling centre.
