Environmental Details
We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
The ecoLiving Beech Wood Toothbrushes replace toothbrushes with plastic handles.
The Beech Wood Toothbrushes are made in Germany using German materials. The handle is made from sustainably sourced FSC certified beech wood, and the bristles are made from 100% castor oil.
Plastic toothbrushes take hundreds of years to break down, which means that every plastic toothbrush youāve ever used is still out there somewhere! Wooden toothbrushes provide a sustainable alternative as the handle can be composted, where it will return to nature within months.
The Toothbrush is packaged in a recyclable cardboard box.
When your toothbrush is looking a bit worse for wear (dentists recommend replacing your brush every three months), the handle can be composted at home, or even put in your garden waste bin (depending on your local authority). The bristles do need to be separated from the handle, as although they are made from castor oil, they are not compostable. The bristles can be recycled with TerraCycle, and ecoLiving operate a recycling program for these. Simply snap off the head of the toothbrush or pull out the bristles with pliers. Please send bristles or heads from at least 10 toothbrushes in a large letter to - ecoLiving, FREE-POST ECOLIVING. Of course, before you compost and recycle your toothbrush, it can be used for a multitude of other things, like cleaning those hard to reach spaces in the kitchen and bathroom, or even as a plant marker in the garden!
