Environmental Details
We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
The bamboo electric toothbrush heads replace electric toothbrush heads that are made of plastic, and also wooden ones that contain a hidden plastic core.
The electric toothbrush head is made from 100% sustainably sourced organic moso bamboo, a very sustainable and environmentally friendly material. It is very fast growing and requires no pesticides and very little water. Once harvested, the bamboo will regenerate itself, ready for harvest again in a few years. Don’t worry about pandas either, although bamboo is their main food source, they eat other types of bamboo, not moso. The end of the handle is dipped in eco-friendly, water based paint. The bristles are made from 100% castor oil..
Plastic electric toothbrush heads take hundreds of years to break down, which means that every plastic toothbrush head you’ve ever used is still out there somewhere! A bamboo electric toothbrush head provide a sustainable alternative as the stem can be composted, where it will return to nature within months.
The toothbrush heads are wrapped in tissue paper inside a recyclable cardboard pillow pack.
When your toothbrush head is looking a bit worse for wear (dentists recommend replacing your brush every three months), the stem can be composted at home, or even put in your garden waste bin (depending on your local authority). The bristles do need to be separated from the head, as they are not compostable. The easiest way to do this is to snap the head off and throw this away with your normal waste, or you can remove the bristles with a pair of pliers. Of course, before you compost and recycle your toothbrush head, it can be used for a multitude of other things, like cleaning those hard to reach spaces in the kitchen and bathroom.
