We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
The Toastabags Compostable Sandwich Bags replace conventional food and freezer bags that are made from plastic.
The Sandwich Bags are made in China from 100% natural, plant based resources. Only the non-edible part of the plants is used, so no food resources are wasted.
Conventional food and freezer bags that are made from plastic take hundreds of years to break down in landfill, and when they do, they release microplastics which end up washing into the oceans, contaminating the food chain. This is in addition to the pollution caused by plastic production and extracting the oil that the plastic is made from. Compostable Food and Freezer Bags on the other hand are made from plants. They don't release any microplastics and and compost down within a few months, returning back to nature. The Bags are made from the non-edible part of plants grown for food, turning what would otherwise be a waste product into something useful.
The Food and Freezer Bags are packaged in a recyclable and compostable cardboard box.
When you have used your Sandwich Bags, they are suitable for home composting, so can be put in your compost bin. They can also be put into your food waste collection if your local council offer this service.

Delivery
We use Royal Mail to deliver our customer orders to our customers in the UK, Europe and the Rest of the World. We also use Parcelforce Worldwide in partnership with General Logistics Systems (GLS) to deliver our customer orders to our European customers and where it’s more cost effective and in line with our environmental values, we use DHL Parcel UK.
We have done extensive research into different delivery companies and have found Royal Mail, Parcelforce Worldwide (a part of the Royal Mail Group), GLS (also a part of the Royal Mail Group) and in select areas, DHL to be the most cost effective, reliable and environmentally friendly. We constantly review our delivery options to ensure what we offer continues to be cost effective for our customers, whilst remaining true to our environmental values.
