All Run with Wolves Vegan friendly Candles are handmade in small batches from their workshop in Manchester, using ingredients sourced from local suppliers. The Candles are made from natural Soy Wax, which is a renewable, sustainable resource, and scented with natural organic Essential Oils, providing a clean and healthy burn. They don’t contain any nasty chemicals, colourants or dyes, and are 100% Phthalate Free (Phthalates are a particularly nasty type of chemical that are found in many candles).
The Candles are 100% Plastic Free and are contained in recyclable amber glass jars with aluminium lids. Even the labels are printed using environmentally friendly natural inks! Each element of a Run with Wolves Candle has been carefully selected for the good of the planet.
The 60ml Candles achieve around 20 hours of burn time, whilst the 180ml Candles achieve around 45 hours.
We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
Run with Wolves Candles replace conventional paraffin wax candles.
Run with Wolves Candles are made using sustainably sourced natural Soy Wax (made from soybeans) and organic natural Essential Oils.
To explain why Run with Wolves Candles are better than conventional mass-produced candles, we need to start by explaining what makes other candles bad for the environment and your health.
Many candles are made using either stearin (which is derived from animal fats), or paraffin wax (a wax that is derived from crude oil, the same oil that’s used to make plastic and petrol). Not only is paraffin wax made from an unsustainable resource which has damaged the environment on countless occasions (in the form of oil spills, damage of natural habitats and climate change to name a few), burning paraffin wax can release harmful chemicals that have been linked to asthma and lung cancer1.
Added to this, conventional candles often contain Phthalates, a type of chemical that’s used for its scent bonding abilities. The problem is that Phthalates are nasty – they have been strongly linked to premature births2, low birth weight3, childhood ADHD4, conduct disorders4, deficits in children's intellectual development5, obesity6,7, and are correlated with reproductive development defects8,9, insulin resistance and diabetes7. There is also ongoing research into their link to serious diseases such as breast cancer.
Needless to say, Run with Wolves don’t use stearin or paraffin wax, nor do they use nasty chemicals like Phthalates. Instead they use Soy Wax, a renewable and sustainable resource made from soybeans, and 100% natural and organic Essential Oils to provide the scents. Soy Wax is not only healthier and more eco-friendly than paraffin wax, but it also burns cleaner and for longer, meaning you get more burn time for your money!
In addition to what’s inside the Candle, the environmental benefits of a Run with Wolves Candle extend to the outside – the packaging. All the packaging has been carefully considered and is 100% reusable and recyclable. The jar is made from amber glass, the lid from aluminium and even the paper label is printed with natural inks. When the Candles arrive at our warehouse, they’re wrapped in recycled newspaper, in a cardboard box sealed with paper tape - not a gram of plastic in sight!
All Run with Wolves Candles come in a recyclable amber glass jar with a stylish paper label that is printed with natural inks. The jar has a recyclable aluminium lid. When we pack the Candles into your parcel for delivery, we wrap them in recyclable paper in order to protect them on their way to you.
When your Run with Wolves Candle has burned out, the jar and lid is fully recyclable with your household recycling. Or if you’re feeling creative, try up-cycling the jar – they make lovely little plant pots and provide a great place to store your bamboo cotton buds and toothbrushes!
