The Peppermint and Eucalyptus Shampoo Bar from Friendly Soap is handmade in Yorkshire using the traditional cold process method. Friendly Soap carefully select their ingredients to ensure their shampoos only contain the most gentle and skin loving oils. The Shampoo Bar produces a gorgeous, creamy lather that gently cares for your hair and conditions too!
The combination of peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils give this Shampoo Bar a pleasant, refreshing scent, and help to reduce itching whilst promoting healthy hair.
It’s important to note that due to the way that Friendly Soap’s Shampoo Bars are made, they’re not suitable for use in hard water areas. This is because the Shampoo Bars contain soap, which when combined with the minerals in hard water, causes a chemical reaction that changes the sodium salt component in soaps into their calcium and magnesium salt counterparts, resulting in an insoluble white-grey residue. The Shampoo Bars are also not designed to be used with dyed hair, and can cause fading.
Friendly Soap pride themselves on putting ethics before profits, and these values are at the heart of everything they do. All of their soaps are cruelty free, and ‘Leaping Bunny’ approved by Cruelty Free International. They are accredited as Vegan friendly by The Vegan Society, and carry the Ethical Consumer Best Buy Label. Their eco credentials even go as far as only using olive oil from a company that guarantees not to use the super-intensive, night-time harvesting methods that leads to a great number of bird deaths! They really have considered every aspect of their business and supply chain to ensure that they operate as ethically and eco-friendly as possible.
How to Switch to a Natural Shampoo Bar
When you first make the switch from chemical shampoos to a natural, soap based shampoo bar, your hair will go through what is known as a ‘transition period’. For some people, this will last for a few days, others a few weeks. During the transition period, your hair and scalp may feel more oily or dry than usual, and can flip between the two several times. Your hair may also feel frizzy or waxy too, like there’s some residue left in it. Don’t panic, this is totally normal, and is just your hair’s way of adjusting because your scalp needs time to rebalance its natural oil production that’s been inhibited by the chemicals in conventional shampoos.
