Environmental Details
We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.
The Wooden Egg Timer replaces egg timers that are made from plastic.
The frame of the egg timer is made from sustainably sourced beech wood. The hourglass is made from glass and is filled with sand.
Any kitchen utensils that have plastic components are difficult or impossible to recycle when they reach the end of their usable life. This poses a problem as the plastic inevitably ends up in landfill, where it will slowly degrade over hundreds of years and release micro plastics that make their way into the environment. By using kitchen utensils that are made using compostable and recyclable materials such as wood and steel, you can ensure that when your utensil has seen better days, it can be disposed of in a sustainable way.
We wrap the Egg Timer in paper to protect it whilst it's on the way to you.
The Egg Timer is well built and should last a long time, however, if you do need to dispose of it, the frame can be composted and the glass can be recycled with your household recycling.
