Description

Handmade in Nailsworth using locally sourced Beeswax, these Beeswax Wraps provide the perfect plastic free solution to keeping your food fresh for longer. They are 100% natural, so you can be certain that there are no nasty chemicals to leach into your food. Pine Resin gives the wraps a natural adhesive, making them clingy so that you can create a tight seal around your food. If reducing plastic waste isn’t enough of a bonus, unlike clingfilm the wraps are breathable, so you can wave goodbye to soggy sandwiches and sweaty cheese!

This Small Kitchen Pack is the perfect way to start your Beeswax Wrap journey, or a quick way to top up your collection. Either way, they’re the perfect addition to an eco-friendly kitchen. The Small Kitchen Pack contains:

  • 1 Small Beeswax Wrap – 20cm x 20cm – Ideal to preserve unused vegetable and fruit halves and seal jars.
  • 1 Medium Beeswax Wrap – 30cm x 30cm – Perfect for wrapping sandwiches, cheese and covering leftovers.

Each wrap is individually made, with the intention to make them as long lasting as possible. The fabric is cut prior to the wax being applied, sealing the edges in wax and preventing the fabric from fraying after a few washes. The wraps will last approximately a year, or even longer if you use a refresher block. Once your wraps have eventually come to the end of their life, they’re 100% compostable, or even make great natural firelighters.

It’s recommended that you refresh your wraps. There are two separate refresh methods which help extend the life and quality of the wraps. The first method is recommended to be undertaken every two to three months and requires you have either an electric oven or an electric iron and the second method is recommended to be undertaken every year and requires you to have a Beeswax Wraps Refresher Block.

Both methods are quick and easy to do, and the nice people who make the Beeswax Wraps have made some handy videos to show you how to complete these methods, please find these below:

For those who are new to Beeswax Wraps, we’ve answered a few common questions below:

How do I use Beeswax Wraps?

  1. Use the warmth from your hands to mould the wraps around your food to create a breathable seal.
  2. After use, wash your wraps with mild dishwashing soap in cold water, and hang them up to dry. They can then be folded and stored in a drawer or on the counter.
  3. Every two to three months, refresh your Beeswax Wraps using an electric oven or iron as explained above.

Can I use the wraps in the microwave or oven?

No, Beeswax Wraps cannot be used in the microwave or oven.

Can I use them in the freezer?

Yes, Beeswax Wraps are good for up to a month in the freezer.

Do the wraps smell?

When they are first opened, the Beeswax Wraps may have a strong honey smell. Don’t worry though, this smell wears off with use.

What food can’t I use the wraps with?

Beeswax Wraps can be used with most food, however, it’s not recommended to use them with pineapples, raw meat and raw fish.

Environmental Information

Environmental Details

We know how difficult it can be to tell how much of an impact what you are buying has on the environment, and what effect switching to a more sustainable product has, so we have found out and compiled all of this information for you below.

Beeswax Wraps are a plastic free, reusable replacement for clingfilm.

The Beeswax Wraps are made from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic Cotton and low impact Dyes, organic Jojoba Oil, Pine Resin and UK Beeswax. The Beeswax Wrap Company try to source their ingredients as locally as possible, with most of their Beeswax coming from within 30 miles of their workshop.

Just think how much clingfilm you get through in a year – two rolls maybe? At 50 metres a roll, that would mean 100 metres per year - in just one house! That’s a lot of plastic, and worse still, most local authorities don’t accept it for recycling, meaning that most of it ends up in landfill. Beeswax Wraps provide a reusable, plastic free alternative that should last you for at least a year, if not longer. They are made from 100% natural materials and are fully compostable when they reach the end of their usable life.

The Beeswax Wraps come packaged in a recyclable cardboard sleeve.

When you can no longer refresh your Beeswax Wraps and they have finally given up the ghost, they can be put in your compost bin, or even twisted up to use as firelighters!
